She is well versed at all levels of creative and business affairs producing, with an emphasis on creative stewardship, budget management, and finance. Sarah recently co-executive produced two seasons of the documentary series Playing with Fire (26 half hours); co-produced season six of the series, Qanurli, for APTN; and produced season four of TVO’s Hard Rock Medical.
At present, Sarah is producing, writing, and directing The Fruit Machine, a feature documentary for TVO, as well as Noël en boîte, a Telefilm feature film. Sarah attended Queen’s University on a writing scholarship and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature, followed by an Honours Diploma in Television Broadcasting from Algonquin College. She is a member of the Writers Guild of Canada and is the Vice-President of SandBay Entertainment Inc.
Han is currently producing The Fruit Machine, a feature documentary for TVO, Noël en boîte, a Telefilm feature film, as well as the upcoming season 7 of Qanurli for APTN, an interprovincial/territorial coproduction between SandBay Entertainment and Qanukiaq Studios. Han is multilingual and produces and directs in both English and French.
She sat on the board for Algonquin College’s Scriptwriting Program, was a member of Women in Communications, and is an active member of WIFT-Toronto. Han is the President of SandBay Entertainment Inc.
Fluently bilingual, he has directed dramas and comedies for Radio-Canada, TVO, and TFO, helming 42 episodes of Francoeur; 50 episodes of Météo+; 29 episodes of Les Bleus de Ramville; and most recently three-seasons of Hard Rock Medical.
In 2009, he wrote and produced The Quantum Tamers: Revealing our Weird and Wired Future, an innovative documentary on quantum physics featuring Stephen Hawking. The Quantum Tamers won the Prix Audace at the 2009 Pariscience International Science Film Festival in Paris, France and was nominated for two Gemini awards in 2010.
Assembling and leading creative and business teams on complex and challenging projects is where Amanda shines. From directing bilingual on-camera talent in some of Canada’s most remote and beautiful natural landscapes for the iconic Hinterland Who’s Who broadcast campaigns, to being the creative and business project lead for several national clients including The Bank of Canada, Canadian Blood Services, the Canadian Wildlife Federation, Aga Khan Foundation Canada, and WSIB.
Amanda excels in the art of variety and diversity. A honours graduate in Television Broadcasting from Algonquin College, Amanda currently calls Toronto, Ontario home where she manages SandBay’s slate of broadcast and branded communication projects.
She previously worked as Assistant Festival Director of the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival. In 2013, Mary was Lead Researcher for 40 documentary shorts that were produced for Sarah Fodey and Han Nguyen for the inaugural launch of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.
Gemini-award winning Michael Tien has been working as a Director of Photography and Camera Operator for over twenty years.
His decades of experience and innate talent for beautifully capturing emotional moments have made Michael a highly sought-after Director of Photography.
He has collaborated with Sarah Fodey since 1999, establishing a relationship of loyalty, trust, and excellence not often found in freelance arrangements.
Nominated for Gemini and Canadian Screen Awards, he has shot over 150 episodes of scripted television, drama and comedy, airing on TFO and CBC, of note with Cathy Jones and Colin Mochrie. He has shot over 200 episodes of lifestyle and reality television and feature-length documentaries airing on major networks including Fox USA, Food Network, Gusto, W, HGTV, and Discovery. He loves his work, and brings enthusiasm and experience to a project, without ego or hesitation to collaboration.
He has directed and edited more than 500 television episodes, which have aired in over 80 countries, including Gemini-nominated hits for Food Network Canada and HGTV. Matt has collaborated with Sarah Fodey since 1999, and he cut the 11-minute story trailer for The Fruit Machine and remains dedicated to the documentary.
